Cell phone use is skyrocketing every year. There were over five billion cell phone subscriptions worldwide in 2010, and that number is continuing to grow. Demand for cellular services is also increasing, as a growing number of cell-phone subscribers are using their phones to access the Internet.

There is much debate over the potential health hazards of cell phone usage. Cell phones use a low-level of electromagnetic radiation to send and receive signals, and this radiation emission has become a cause for concern. There have been many studies associating cell phones with a variety of risks to human health, including brain tumors, cancer, reproductive concerns, headaches, cognition problems and sleep disorders.

Some Studies Suggest Serious Health Risks Could be Associated with Cell Phone Use

Dr. Devra Davis, founding director of the Toxicology Board at the US National Academy of Sciences and author of Disconnect: The Truth About Cell Phone Radiation, claims that children are at a higher risk than adults of developing brain cancer as a result of cell phone usage, stating in her book: "The bottom line is most people do not appreciate a cell phone is a two-way microwave radio, that the signals get twice as far in to the head of a child as an adult, and studies very consistently show long-term heavy use increases the risk of brain cancer."
