Of course, you can use your Android phone to help build the application but Google offers a free emulator which allows you to create your App. App building is accessible on most common platforms including Windows XP, Linux, and Macintosh. Indeed, almost anyone can create an Android App. All that is required is a little patience and some downloading. Follow these steps and you will have your own customized app built on your pc without using a cell phone.
Go the Google's Android App Inventor Page
First go to Google App Inventor for Android Page where you will find instructions on how to set up the application. You may watch the video which shows what we will be doing. Then click the "Get Started" green button to the lower right of the video.
Set Up Your Computer
Click the first link for 'Setting up your computer.' Check the platforms to be sure that your computer will be able to integrate the app building software. Then scroll down the page and click the links for Java to be certain that the latest Java is up and running on your browser. If not, you can download it there. After you have confirmed that you have a suitable platform and are fully Java enabled, scroll down and click the 'Instructions for installation,' choosing your pc platform.
